Family Law
Family law is an umbrella term that includes divorce (dissolution of marriage), legal separation, domestic violence, and paternity. Here are some of the things that people fight over: child custody & visitation, child/spousal support, the division of assets & debts. Our approach to family law litigation is to have both a carrot and a stick. The stick is the ability to enforce your rights, and the carrot is the openness to compromise. You cannot have one without the other. Most people need the stick in order to consider your carrot. If you only offer them the stick you are going to waste your money fighting over things that will not matter in three years. If you only offer them the carrot they will take it and ask for more. So the solution is: offer them BOTH – the carrot and the stick. The bigger the stick, the more attractive the carrot!
